The fastest and easiest way to share your contact details with others is with a VCF file, but attaching a VCF (Virtual Contact File) to an email, or adding it to a website or Linktree (Link-in-Bio) can present several challenges.
Creating Your VCF File
Creating a Virtual Contact File (VCF) is a straightforward process, and there are several online platforms where you can generate VCF files for free. Here are a few options:
Email Services
Gmail/Google: If you have a Google account, you can manually create a contact and export it as a VCF file. Open Google Contacts, create a new contact, and click "Save". After you have saved your card click the three dots in the upper right corner, then click "export" and download your preferred format. As an iPhone user, I typically select the vCard format (for iOS Contacts).
Smartphone Contacts Apps
iPhone Contacts App: If you're using an iPhone and you have an iCloud, you can create a contact and then choose to export it as a VCF file directly from the Contacts app.
Android Contacts App: Similarly, on Android devices, you can create a contact and export it as a VCF file from the Contacts app.
Microsoft Outlook
If you are using Microsoft Outlook, you can create a contact and export it as a VCF file. In Outlook, go to the Contacts section, select the contact, and choose to save it as a VCF file (vCard).
Online VCF Generator Website
VCFGenerator.com was developed by BizViz. It is a powerful, free, tool that makes it easy to create virtual business cards in the vCard format. Easily generate a VCF file that contains your name, phone number, address, and other important contact details. Add your VCF file to email signatures, websites, and QR codes to streamline and improve communication with others.
Unlike the other applications which typically require a paid license to access, VCF Generator is 100% free to use! A nifty feature is the "Live Preview" which allows you to visualize what your card may look like when saved to another device.
Hosting Your VCF File for Free
An added benefit is that the VCF Generator website provides FREE hosting of your VCF file. This makes it easy to add your VCF file to email signatures, QR codes, websites, Linktrees, and NFC "Tap" cards.
